Market area conversion charge

 

With effect from January 1, 2015, a market area conversion charge was introduced for the first time .

The market area conversion charge was introduced to pass on the costs incurred by a network operator for the technical network measures necessary to permanently convert his network from L-gas to H-gas to all networks within the market area in which the network of the quality-changing network operator is located.

Passing-on starts at the network operators responsible for the two market areas NetConnect Germany and Gaspool. These network operators charge the specific levy for market area conversion to pass on the costs to all exit points on their market area-wide networks.

The maket area conversion charge will therefore be payable in addition to the network fees at exit points to final users directly connected or downstream network operators of Open Grid Europe as well as to storage facilities or border and market area crossing points.

Please note:

The market area conversion levy according to § 25 Terms and conditions for the entry and exit contract of § 10 KoV is calculated for each market area and applicable to all exit points in addition to the network fees. Against the backdrop of the expected legal change to § 19a of the EnWG with effect on 01.01.2017, the TSOs publish two levies: the market area specific levy and the nationwide market area conversion levy. The market area specific levy corresponds to the current legal situation with a tumbling of the costs within the market area and will be applied until the date of the statutory amendment of § 19a EnWG, which provides for the future a nationwide market area conversion levy. With the entry into force of this legal change nationwide market area conversion levy is applied and will replace the market area specific levy. The TSOs inform the customers immediately about the application of the nationwide market area conversion levy.  

In 2019, the nationwide levy is 0,3181 EUR/kWh/h/a.

In 2020, the nationwide levy is 0,5790 EUR/kWh/h/a.
